Lok pal now results in no pal situation!
Any government needs to think twice before any law they propose. PM seems not in apparent control of government leading to a thought that he is some kind of Lame duck.
Rahul may be general secretary of Congress. But government is different from party administration.
PM should know he is running government and he should be all the more careful.
Lokpal bill indeed not that urgent though corruption is rampant but all the more is Indian economic situation.
Economy now is practically in doldrums.
No sensible ideas are at sight, except some bravado here and there . That serves none at all.
Indian wealthy try to siphon of billions as there is no transparencies at all as even Ajay Piramal said in no uncertain terms. He sits on 3 bn rupees and he does not want to invest now in India.
The present situation of Lokpal is well utilized as opposition wanted to cause the dethronement of the government. Otherwise their objective is not to help common man. Over enthusiasm is indeed a deep trough which no one in government perhaps not realized r deliberately wanted to inconvenience the government . This government all said and done is for common man but it is passing through some upheavels one way or other.
Over enthusiasm alone is not going to work. One can see similar problem in Anna Hazarees great andholans against corruption.
Corruption is indeed a cancer but have we cured cancer as a disease in spite of so much of international effort in medical and surgical studies. We need more and more sustained research how to modify the illness of corruption in psyche of bureaucrats , politicians, corporate and routine business man.
Corruption is embedded in all and to remove is like trying to remove terrorism over night. is it at all possible.
Even after world wars which are products of the mental corruption all over the world. Soviet iron curtain threatened the harmless US capitalism and high desire for freedom of thought and expression. USA believed in high amount of philanthropy to obviate poverty to the best extent possible like 'Rob Peter to pay Paul'. Cold War threatened peaceful existence of USA. So corrupt practices to dislodge each other and then such policies still are on China/North Korea/Iron just because as these countries are developing nuclear arsenal capable of MAD - mutually assured destruction by using WMD - weapons of mass destruction.
Point is one side we develop corrupt practices to neutralize war by nuclear destruction as also there is another serious fear of WMD may fall ih the hands of terrorists. So terrorism is synonymous with corruption of mind with money or any other means and this exponentially growing day by day. So stopping over night s impossible.
So world is in stupor of all kinds of corruptions. Nobody is in safe position. So governments need to be careful in all their dealings. Press or Media will play spoil sport but governments need to be very careful and indeed to be careful and patient in all kinds of situations. Opposition parties also will play spoil sport.
I never thought such patient man in PM did not give due thought and counsel to his own part men, no doubt pressure will be indeed very much like a gale in an ocean.
Politicians need to be sober compared to people as they get angry on everything indeed.

i read an article of Rajasekaran nair in sunny news on a malayali nurse at asian heart institute and her suicide. Sad indeed. Why Nair does not move a writ in Bombay high court under article 226 to find redress for the poor family which hoped on that girl. the court indeed need to hear even a PIL on this kind of issue. At least mr Verghese can move a PIL by sending the news item to chief justice of Bombay High Court, perhaps he can take help of Mohan Nair. Pls do that is service to the nursing commun ity mr verghese!
